Ministry nets over RM86,000 in seizures

BINTULU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism here netted RM86,852.72 in seizures for various offences involving 31 cases this year as of Tuesday (March 21).

Its chief Salihin Den said the ministry also issued compounds totalling RM3,900.

He said 25 offenders were issued compounds on the spot for various offences.

The 31 cases were investigated under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011; Weights and Measures Act 1972; Control of Supplies Act 1961; and Trade Descriptions Act 2011.

“Out of 31 cases, six of the cases are still under investigation under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 and the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” he said.

Under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act, 11 cases were recorded with total seizures valued at RM2,693.72 and RM1,300 in compounds.

Under the Weights and Measures Act 1972, seven cases were recorded with total goods seized at RM2,940 and compounds worth RM1,000.

One case was recorded under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, with the seized items valued at RM1,514.

Twelve cases were recorded under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011, with seized goods valued at RM79,705 and RM1,600 in compounds.
