KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd and its customers can now have a fair and independent rating with YouTube’s recently launched consumer web app named ‘Video Checkup’.

The app enables customers to see Celcom’s network quality while watching YouTube videos on mobile devices. YouTube’s Video Checkup is targeted to maximise users’ data experience with a smoother YouTube streaming experience.

Celcom Axiata Bhd chief executive officer Michael Kuehner said Celcom as a network service provider would greatly benefit from YouTube’s Video Checkup rating to further deliver the best video experience.

“Celcom will always continue to provide the best digital customer experience through such opportunities.

“The rating given by YouTube for Celcom customers will contribute to our many ongoing network modernisation initiatives to offer the best network quality experience to customers,” he added.

Currently Celcom scores above a 3.5 star rating (which connotes ‘High Definition (HD): Smooth Streaming’) at 79 per cent out of the 471 locations where Video Checkup is available in the country.

YouTube’s Video Checkup rating is a star-based rating with each rating associated with a description such as ‘High definition (HD): Smooth streaming’.

At this point in time, four out of five stars is the highest rating nationwide, as five stars are reserved for future technologies that support higher bandwidth video.
