KUCHING: The 2nd PASC Inter-Primary School swimming competition has been postponed to April 23 with its closing date extended to April 7.

Power Aquatic Swimming Club (PACS) advisor Voon Yong Hui said the venue and times are unchanged at Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre (8am to 5pm).

The Initial date of April 9 (with March 27 closing date) had to be re-timed as it coincides with the semi-finals and grand final of the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open 2017 Badminton Championships, and there is a strong possibility that the BA of Malaysia and Badminton World Federation may use the giant screen at the Aquatic Centre to telecast the event for crowd control purposes.

“Therefore we have to postpone to a later date, and hopefully with the extended closing date, we can receive more participants,” said Voon who is also the organising chairman.

Registration is open to children born between 2005 and 2010 in all primary schools in Kuching and Kota Samarahan divisions. Minister of Youth, Sports and Solidarity Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong, who is Power Aquatic Swimming Club (PACS) patron, has been invited to close the event.
