Free consultation, treatment by Chinese medicine practitioners

KUCHING: Forty-seven Chinese medicine practitioners from across Malaysia and overseas will be offering free consultation, treatment and medication at Kuching Sentral here on April 9.

Hailing from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Penang, Johor, Sabah, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Sarikei and Kuching, they will provide treatment that includes acupuncture and massage.

These physicians will also attend to issues pertaining to gynaecology and orthopedics.

The event from 9am to 4pm is jointly organised by Kuching Teck Choon Anti-Cancer Association, Federation of Chinese Medicine and Physicians Sarawak, Federation of Sarawak Traditional Physicians and Complementary Medicine and Miri Traditional Chinese Physicians.

President of Kuching Teck Choon Anti-Cancer Association, Then Shui Ted said it would be the first time the association is organising such a campaign.

“We hope it can achieve the role of helping the people as it is for the benefit of the community,” he said at a news conference here yesterday.

Then added that president of Federation of Chinese Medicine and Physicians Sarawak, Prof Dato’ Seri Tan Kit Weng had sponsored medications worth about RM40,000.

Tan who is also organising chairman invited all medicine practitioners to join the event for an exchange of expertise and skills.

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re Chinese medicine practitioners or western doctors, just come and have a look at how we attend to our patients.

“Traditional Chinese medicine has a long history and we can share our knowledge and skills. Furthermore, 68 members of Miri Traditional Chinese Physicians are western doctors.”

Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian is expected to be guest-of-honour at the April 9 charity.

Former Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin and wife Datin Patinggi Norkiah will be the special guests.
