Sarawak ICT Expo 2017 to showcase over 300 products

SIBU: Visitors to the Sarawak ICT Expo 2017, to take place at Giant Hypermarket here from April 28 to 30, will be spoilt for choice when it comes to selections of ICT products.

For the exhibition this year, running from 10am to 9pm daily, there will be a showcase of more than 300 ICT products.

Computer Sales and Services Association (CSSA) Sarawak–Sibu branch vice-chairman Wong Ing Ang said about 100 freebies including USB fans would be given away at the expo.

“We’ll have 24 booths. So far, 18 of them have been taken up,” he said during a press conference on the exhibition here yesterday.

The confirmed participants are Billion Fabulous Sdn Bhd, Celcom, Classic Digital Color Photo, D-Tech OA Sdn Bhd, D-Tech OA Marketing, Hi-Tech Computer Sales and Services, Home Computers Printers Projectors Sales, Hong Leong Credit Cards, JS Solution, Micro-TM (Sibu) Sdn Bhd, Micromedia PC Station, One Solution Centre, Sibu IT Sdn Bhd, Suntech Telecommunication Co, Telekom, VMS Solution Sdn Bhd and Yakin ICT Technology Sdn Bhd.

Ing Ang said a gaming experience would be arranged to prepare those intending to take part in a gaming competition to be staged here this June.

“We will set up 10 gaming computers for the public as the pre-launch to the gaming competition. This experience is free but will be on a first come, first serve basis.

“The games will be DOTA and Counter Strike,” he said.

Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) is the main sponsor of the expo. On this, Ing Ang said TM would provide free Streamyx line to enhance the gaming experience.

Acer, Aplus, Brother and RMS (Remote Monitoring System) are sponsoring the buntings.

Ing Ang said TM, Celcom, Digi, Oppo, Vivo and Huawei would also be involved in the expo, where an e-waste recycling campaign would also take place.

“Members of the public who have unwanted or spoilt computers, or computer peripherals, printers and other accessories that they wish to throw away are advised to bring them to Giant Hypermarket carpark (back section) during the expo period for proper disposal.

“The campaign is run by CSSA Sibu in collaboration with Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the people,” he said.

SMC chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King is expected to officiate at the campaign’s launch, scheduled for 11am on April 29.
