KUCHING: Traffic investigation and enforcement officers in the state are urged to uphold integrity and professionalism in order to earn respect from the community.

In making the call yesterday, Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement director SAC Datuk Mahamad Akhir Darus asserted that upholding integrity entailed not just steering clear of corrupt practices but also being honest in discharging their duties.

“When we talk about having integrity, it is not just keeping our hands off corruption but honesty matters as well.

“Besides being honest, it is equally important for us to place the interest of the department before everything else.

“We must all play our role to uphold the image of the department and the government as a whole,” he said before presenting certificates of appreciation to over 30 officers at the police headquarters in Jalan Badruddin here yesterday.

Akhir said all in the department ought to stay focused and keep a positive mindset as a means to keep negative elements at bay.

He also appealed to his personnel to be more creative and innovative when discharging their duties.

“We have to go the extra mile to better serve the community. It is also crucial for us to constantly equip ourselves with the latest know-how to deliver quality services.”

He added that officers should make it a culture to always enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
