SARIKEI: The Connect to Unite (CTU) programme has helped to ensure that the people, particularly those from rural areas, benefit directly from government services.

Tanjung Manis MP Datuk Norah Tun Rahman said the programme initiated by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia is implemented through on-the-ground activities by relevant agencies.

Speaking at the launch of the CTU programme held at Bukit Kinyau village recently, she cited the village as a good example of how government agencies collaborate with one another to organise activities that benefit the people.

“CTU also helps to strengthen ties between the government and the people as services are rendered directly to them,” she said.

She also touched on new policies such as the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) programme and the digital economy which she noted were part of the government’s long-term plans for the people and that such policies will benefit them (rakyat) in the long run.

Meanwhile, Norah also handed over televisions and Astro Njoi decoders to 10 selected recipients; a RM3,000 grant to the village’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and village, security and development committee (JKKK); as well as RM10,000 to Bukit Kinyau Youth Association during the programme.

Also present were Sarikei Resident Mohammad Junaidi Mohidin, Ministry of Communications and Multimedia management divisional secretary Hairul Rashidan Rashid, Information Department (Penerangan) director-general representative Balakrishnan Kandasamy, and Penerangan state deputy director Ali Suhaili.
