Members of the police force and others recover the body of the deceased which was discovered lying among the bushes.

LIMBANG: The fate of a buffalo farmer who had been missing for two days ago was known yesterday morning when his body was found among some bushes, believed to have been attacked by his own buffalo at Kampung Meritam.

The body of Rini Mat Daud, 46, was found at 10am some 100 metres from his father’s house by fellow buffalo farmers during a search and rescue operation.

According to Mat Daud, his son was missing since Tuesday when taking care of a new buffalo acquired two weeks ago.

He added that Rini had spent most of his life since the age of 18 taking care of the animals, and thus didn’t expect that the buffalo would turn aggressive and attack Rini.

“Rini suffered serious bodily injuries including three cuts gored by the buffalo on the stomach and injuries on his hands,” he told the media yesterday.

Rini was the third of ten siblings and married with one child.

Meanwhile, Limbang District Police chief Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai said a police report on the incident had been lodged by the family of the victim.

“Initial investigations showed that the victim died after being gored by a buffalo,” he added.
