New member expected to join Gabungan Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Sabah may have a new member to fill in the void left by one of its founding members, Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS).

According to its chairman, Datuk Mohd Noor Mansor, there had been enquiries by other parties which are interested to join Gabungan Sabah but the existing component members will first have an in-depth discussion about that before making any decisions.

Mohd Noor also said Gabungan Sabah was not sadden by PCS’s decision to leave them and their struggles for the people of Sabah.

“Gabungan Sabah is the platform for local opposition parties to unite and be a strong voice for Sabahans. We are the platform for local parties to unite in their quest to topple Barisan nasional (BN) which is led by Umno, a party from Kuala Lumpur.

“What is strange is that PCS chose to leave Gabungan Sabah over a minor excuse such as the accusation that SAPP and Sabah STAR are pro-Umno just because of the MySabah issue and the issue of the Sabah opposition chief,” he said.

Mohd Noor claimed that PCS president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing had strongly objected to the requests by Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah and Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah to join Gabungan Sabah.

He said the inclusion of the two parties would have made Gabungan Sabah stronger but Bumburing objected to it until he had to be talked into agreeing to accept them for the sake of Sabahans.

“If he (Bumburing) left Gabungan Sabah to pursue his dreams of setting up a grand alliance with parties outside of Sabah, then I wish him good luck,” Mohd Noor said.
