MARUDI: A search and rescue (SAR) team yesterday failed to locate a villager who has not been seen since going into jungle in Long Lama on Sunday.

The SAR team comprising firefighters, the police, and villagers searched in vain for the second day for 49-year-old Jenau Anyi, who is said to suffer from gastritis.

It is understood that he had called his wife on Monday to say that he would return home once the rain had stopped but never did.

His wife then filed a missing person’s report at around 5.20pm on Monday at the Long Lama police station.

An initial search found Jenau’s motorcycle abandoned at the Temala Forest area near a hill.

This is apparently the second time Jenau has become lost in the jungle.

A Fire and Rescue Department team led by senior fire officer II Awang Busrah Awang Mustapha was among those looking for Jenau.

The search began on Wednesday morning but had to be called off due to bad weather.
