KIM Banjar to tackle hoax

MARTAPURA, South Kalimantan: The Community Information Group (KIM), which was established by the Government of Banjar District, is asked to ward off hoax that emerged among the local people, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

Head of Communications, Informatics, Statistics and Coding Agency (Kominfo) of Banjar District Farid Soufian in Martapura on Monday said KIM was instrumental in creating peace and order in the community.

“Hence, we ask every member of the community who joint KIM to be able to ward off any fake news so that it is not growing and disturbing the society,” he said.

The request was submitted in front of 30 participants of KIM Socialization to board of management and members of KIM in Martapura Kota and East Martapura Timur Subdistrict.

According to him KIM, which is formed in all subdistricts, have the duty and responsibility to report every information and news circulating in the community.

“They are also equipped with the ability to ward off fake news so that if hearing the emergence of news that is not true or without facts should be able to deny it,” he said.

KIM, he explained, is a group of information formed by the community itself in their respective environment and its existence is legalized and fostered by the Office of Kominfo Banjar.

He said, KIM comes from various components of society. It can consist of people who work the same, such as stone craftsmen, farmers, traders, etc.

“Currently, as many as 20 groups of KIM have been formed. They play a role to convey information about development programs to the community,” he said.
