Shanghai beauty wins Miss Chinese World 2017

PETALING JAYA: Yin Zhuo Qun of Shanghai, China has been crowned Miss Chinese World 2017, here last night.

The Shanghai lass, who is also a media planner, beat 31 other contestants from 10 countries to win the title.

Beaming with joy, Yin received the crown from Miss Chinese World president and owner, Tan Sri Danny Ooi.

She walked away with a scholarship worth RM100,000, trophy and other prizes.

Freelance model Chang Yu Chin, 20, from Taiwan won the first runner-up while actress Dai Tian, 25, from Qingdao, China, was the second runner-up.

Wang Ruo Han, 22, of Qinhuangdao, China, won the Miss Friendship title while Fransiska Indrayani, 25, of Surabaya, Indonesia, won the Best National Costume 2017.

Chong Jia Ying, 22 , from Penang who represented Malaysia, won the Miss Oriental 2017 title.

Among the judges for the final were the local celebrity Tony Eusoff, singer Winnie K, fashion designer Jason Yek and image consultant Michael Poh.

Ooi said it was great to bring the Miss Chinese World Pageant back on stage after a lapse of five years.

This is our third pageant competition since 2005 and this year will be the beginning for the contest to be held annually, he said.

“As time passed by, younger generations are exposed to modernisation, and sometimes along the way, shunning their roots of the Chinese culture, tradition and values,” he told reporters after the show. – Bernama
