KUCHING: Barisan Nasional (BN) stands a chance to win the Pujut by-election if all its component parties work as a team.

State BN Youth chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said though the constituency is DAP’s stronghold, it is not impossible for BN to win the seat back in the by-election on July 4.

“What’s important is for us to unite and work as a team to convince voters and the people of Pujut constituency that BN can give the best to the people and the state.

“This is the message we ought to convey and prove to the people in Pujut, in Sarawak and the country,” he said when met after officiating at the launching of the Matang Jaya Ramadan Bazaar organised by Matang Jaya Zone A Neighbourhood Watch Zone in collaboration with Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), CCK Fresh Mart and Matang Mall here yesterday.

Fadillah, who is also Works Minister, hoped SUPP and UPP come to a compromise in selecting the candidate who will represent BN in the by-election.

He also pointed out that the PBB Youth machinery is ready for the Pujut by-election even though there are not many Bumiputera voters in the constituency.

“We will help the candidate and party, particularly SUPP, to ensure a BN win this time around. It is imperative that our movement is much like the Tanjong Datu by-election so that we can ensure that our machinery can move as one BN,” he said, adding that the BN and PBB Youth have  started the ground work for the by-election.

Fadillah said the state BN will not seek any help from its partners in Peninsular Malaysia and all campaigns and programmes will be led by state BN component parties.

Also present were Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang who is also MPP chairman and Senator Dr Zaiedi Suhaili.
