TANJUNG MANIS: The Tanjung Manis Palm Oil Bulking Facilities (POBF) began its first shipment of crude palm oil (CPO) on May 26.
The CPO totaling 4,500 metric tonnes will be exported to India.
Present to witness the shipment were Tanjung Manis Bulkers Sdn Bhd director Roland Lau Tee Mei, Tanjung Manis Integrated Port (TMIP) Sdn Bhd assistant manager (Operation and Technical) Hassan Hasnan, TMIP assistant manager (Safety, Security and Quality Assurance) Major (Retired) Hashim Sim Abdullah, TMIP business development and corporate services manager Gerard Harry, Kirana Palm Oil Refinery Sdn Bhd logistics manager Yang Sie Ging and Tanjung Manis Bulkers management committee member Rhys Salang.
POBF was an initiative of Pusaka Capital Group, a subsidiary and investment arm of the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC).
It was built in 2015 at a cost of RM70 million and launched in March this year by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
POBF’s main facilities include 16 storage tanks with a maximum storage capacity of 64,000 metric tonnes with room for further expansion.
At the moment, eight units of storage tanks with total capacity of 32,000 metric tonnes were available for utilisation.
Another eight would be ready soon.
The other associated facilities are oil bays, pump house, boiler house, weight-bridge control room, workshop, store, boiler room, water treatment plant, and administrative block.
