SIBU: Several artists will be showcasing their art pieces at the mural gallery along Chuan Corridor Sibu Town Square from June 9 to 17.
According to Sibu Street Art Committee member Teng Ming Min, the artists will be divided into 10 groups for their participation in the project as part of Sibu Municipal Council’s inaugural `Sibu Street Art Festival’.
“We invited these artists to be part of the project and they have submitted their ideas of their murals to us and we have approved their proposed murals.
“For the next few days, they will be here to do their paintings which should be completed by June 9,” she disclosed.
According to her, nine groups are from Sibu with the other one from Kuching.
They will be working on the theme ‘Fascinating Sarawak’.
“The artists will use their creativity to best represent Sarawak based on this given theme,” she pointed out.
The council provides all the materials, including the paint.
The Street Art Festival is held in conjunction with Visit Sibu Year (VSY) 2017.
Other activities of the festival include creative bazaar, vintage mini theatre, street life busking, mural photos booth, and kids fun park.
