KUALA LUMPUR: Borrowers of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans can now make their repayments consistently through an online direct debit system yesterday.

Its chairman Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said this way, the borrowers no longer need to go to the PTPTN counters to make their repayments but need only register at the PTTPN official portal www.ptptn.gov.my.

“The manual direct debit system was introduced in November last year, but this was more complicated and could cause the application to be rejected,” he said.

“With the online direct debit, applications are approved faster, within three working days and the borrower can opt to make payments through their banks as 17 banks are providing this service,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters at an event to announce the new service here today.

Shamsul said besides the borrowers, depositors of the National Education Scheme (SSPN-i) can also use the scheme.

“We are confident that with this method, the amount of savings would increase and the target of RM4 billion repayments this year can be achieved because as of April,  a total of RM1.39 billion has been collected.

“Borrowers who make consistent repayments up till Dec 31 this year through the online direct debit will enjoy a 10 percent discount,” he said.

However, Shamsul advised borrowers and depositors to contact the PTPTN Careline to facilitate the repayments and deposits. — Bernama
