KUCHING: Home of Peace at Jalan Landeh near here has received donations which included food items through voluntary social worker Lim Chee Haw.

Lim, who delivered the donations recently, said he was happy with the fact some of the donors were not even Christians yet they did not let the difference in religion stop them from giving to charity.

He was grateful that the donors answered his request to assist Home of Peace, a home for the elderly and homeless poor set up by the Catholic Welfare Services Council, Sarawak (CWS). He pointed out that Home Of Peace currently provides shelter to 20 senior citizens, including the wheelchair-bound.

“The donations delivered to Home of Peace recently was the 686th act of charity I have done since I devoted my life to social work after retiring from the Marine Police.

“I am always ready to assist those who want to give back to society, especially to help the needy and poor irrespective of race and religion,” Lim said.

He singled out a construction company in MJC Batu Kawa and a Mr Fam and family from 17th Mile Kuching for their generous contributions.

On another matter, Lim said poor families facing difficulties during times of bereavement may contact him at 082-248153 or 016-8070388 if they need help to acquire coffins.

He said financial donations from donors enabled him to purchase coffins which are now placed at a coffin shop here, and which will be given to needy families upon request.
