SEA Games Torch Run reaches Tuaran

TUARAN: The Tuaran segment of the KL2017 Torch Run in conjunction with the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur in August was successfully held recently.

Tuaran District Officer, AM Ibnu AK Baba flagged off the event at the iconic 3 Horses Roundabout near the Tambalang Race Course a few miles from Tuaran town.

The torch was first carried by former Malaysian Olympian hurdle runner Simit Kiah who later handed it over to former SEA Games Taekwando exponent Elizabeth Chua. Both Kiah and Chua are from Tuaran. On arrival at Tuaran town, the torch was received by the Political Secretary to the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Kassim Razali who represented Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji Hj Noor.

Among those present were the Political Secretary to Federal Minister Tangau, Joisin Romut who represented the Tuaran MP, Tamparuli community development leader Datuk Jahid Jahim, Tuaran OCPD DSP Abdul Fuad Malek and Tuaran District Education Officer, Tah Nia Hj Jeman.
