KUCHING: A former bank officer (financial advisor) who pleaded guilty to four counts of criminal breach of trust will be serving a total of three years and six months in prison, and to be given a total of eight lashes in the Sessions Court in Sarikei on Thursday.
Max Wong Soon Wei, 42, had pleaded guilty to the charge framed against him under Section 402 of the Penal Code before Judge Maris Agan.
For each charge, he was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and two lashes to run concurrently.
He committed the offence at a bank in Kapit between July and December 2016 involving financial transaction amounting to RM58,490.
Ong gave financial advice to the bank’s customers but did not made payments to the bank after receiving the money from them.
