MIRI: A 23-year-old man was yesterday released on RM10,000 bail on two local sureties after he pleaded not guilty before the Sessions Court here to raping an underage girl.
He also paid a deposit of RM5,000.
His case will be brought up for further mention for five days from Oct 23 – 27 this year.
Maxcian Geleunsin, a Mirian from Kiambang Road, Tudan faces charges of rape under Section 376(1)(d) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and liable to whipping.
According to the brief facts of the case, he allegedly raped the girl aged 14 years and seven months at a lot at Kiambang Road, Tudan Phase 5 at 3am on Jan 23, 2016.
Earlier, prosecuting officer ASP Mary Ong applied for a new date for case management as the accused had pleaded not guilty.
Judge Steve Ritikos allowed the application and fixed June 30 for case management.
