KUCHING: The Sessions Court here yesterday sentenced an Indonesian to 15 years in prison and six strokes of the rotan for voluntarily causing grievous hurt to his fellow countryman last month.
Judge Timothy Finlayson Joel convicted Abdul Wahab Ngansarai on his own guilty plea under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
Abdul Wahab admitted committing the offence around 7am on June 4 at his workplace – a factory along Jalan Kuching-Serian – with a machete.
DPP Yong Ann Nie prosecuted the case.
According to the facts of the case, the complainant had received a phone call regarding a fight between two foreign factory workers.
The victim was found with injuries all over his body and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The manager handed over Abdul Wahab and the weapon used to police.
