MIRI: The Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) will be hosting a ‘Coffee Date with Curtin Malaysia’ in collaboration with Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) tomorrow (June 24).
This was announced at a press conference at the MCCCI yesterday following a courtesy call on MCCCI chairman Lee Khoi Yun by Curtin Malaysia’s Marketing Manager Klaus Sim.
The ‘Coffee Date’ will be held from 9 am to 12 noon at the MCCCI at No. 28, High Street so potential students and their parents can consult with representatives of the university regarding enrolment and loans and scholarships available.
“On top of that, they can also speak to academic staff of the university and current students who will be part of the ‘Student Sharing Session’.
“Potential students attending are advised to bring along their examination results or academic transcripts for assessment and on-the-spot applications. The event is open to members of the public and admission is free,” said Sim.
Meanwhile, Curtin Malaysia’s second semester intake is
currently in progress with classes for its undergraduate and foundation programmes commencing on July 31 and August 14 respectively.
Curtin Malaysia offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering and related sciences, business and humanities identical to those
at its parent campus in Perth, as well as one-year courses at foundation level that feed directly into the undergraduate programmes.
Curtin University continues to climb the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR), rising to 262nd worldwide in 2017-18, up from 306th in 2016-17. The university’s recent rise in the QSWUR can be attributed to its enhanced research performance, growing level of international collaboration with key partners and improved international reputation.
The university’s strong global reputation has also seen it being ranked in the top two per cent of universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2016.
As the largest international campus of Curtin University, Curtin Malaysia is pleased that the wider university continues to receive global recognition, and that its students, staff and alumni can be proud to be part of one of the leading education providers in the world.
As a shareholder in the university and a key community player in Miri, the MCCCI
actively supports Curtin Malaysia’s recruitment activities each semester, hosting
recruitment events and encouraging its members, business associates and members of the public to attend.
