School praised for having achieved many titles

MIRI: Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang here is praised for having achieved many outstanding titles through its students who are proactive, creative, innovative and competitive.

Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Datuk Naroden Majais said the school was also well known for producing leaders and individuals who are knowledgeable in various fields.

Among the latest titles the school has in its collection are Bestari School, Excellent Cluster School, Microsoft Mentor School and 1Malaysia Boarding School.

“Our education system is dynamic and progressive to produce quality human capital with a 21st Century mindset,” he said in his speech at the college’s 60th anniversary celebration and Pesta Tanjung here yesterday. His text of speech was read by Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat.

The principal Hashimah Zen was also present at the function.

“We need to produce students who are excellent and competent and who will be able to contribute to nation-building.

“The Education Ministry has launched the Malaysia Education Development Plan (2013-20125) in a bid to improve our education system and this plan must be followed through to ensure that the younger generation are globally competitive,” Naroden said.

At the function, Ripin announced a RM5,000 allocation for the school’s parent-teacher association (PTA).

Meanwhile, yesterday’s event which took place at the school compound, included a charity food fair which featured several booths selling various kind of food and drinks. Also on sale were second-hand items which were still in good condition.

The charity sale was meant to raise fund for the PTA to carry out its many activities.

Side programmes include a fashion show and scout gang show.
