MIRI: Residents of Desa Senadin are hoping the government and Miri City Council will provide a recreational park with a jogging track and a place for family outing.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau noted that a site that used to be a multipurpose hall had been converted into rental facilities by a developer.

“I was informed by residents there that the present public recreational park and a hall at (Jumbo lake) is being

turned into other rental purposes and residents hope the present jogging track beside a training centre there can be turned into a park,” he said during the ‘Ngiling Tikai’ organised by Rukun Tetangga Desa Senadin Phase II on Saturday night.

Present were RT Desa Senadin Phase II chairman Albert Bangau and Jiran Wanita Desa Senadin Phase II chairperson Alice Jeleni.

According to Dennis, who is a resident there, residents of Desa Senadin are in need of a jogging track, recreational park and a place for family outing after the one near Jumbo Park was used for other purposes.

He said he had brought the matter to Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and also Miri CIty Council.

“Residents in Desa Senadin are hoping the lake near a training centre there be turned into a permanent park for the residents,” he said.

Earlier, Dennis urged the multi-racial and multi-religious community in Desa Senadin to be tolerant and establish closer rapport among themselves.

“We must be flexible, understanding toward our neighbour and work together for the betterment of the community

which is the key to unity,” he advised.

At the same time, he urged residents to be on the alert for the rabies disease and ensure their pets are free from rabies virus.

A ‘ngajat’ performance, cutting of the ‘ranyai’ tree and rolling of the mat were the highlights of the Gawai Dayak closing ceremony.
