‘Superman Hiew’ barred from entering Miri

MIRI: Political activist and former Democratic Action Party (DAP) member Hiew Kuan Yau was stopped at Miri Airport yesterday as he was making his way to attend the party’s dinner.

He arrived at Miri Airport around 3.30pm on board an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur and was met and informed by Immigration officers at the airport that he was among the individuals barred from entering the state.

He was supposed to be among six guest speakers at a fundraising dinner for independent schools held at Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club on Friday.

Hiew who has been given the ‘Superman’ moniker by his friends as he was often seen in Superman t-shirt flew back on board the same plane to Kuala Lumpur around 4 pm.
