12 drink drivers nabbed in Keningau

KENINGAU: Police have detained 12 motorists including a woman for driving under the influence of alcohol.

District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Jawila said the offenders were between 20 and 46 years old.

In the ‘Ops Mabuk’ held between 12 midnight and 5.30am, Ahmad said the police also issued 11 summonses to motorists for committing various traffic offences under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Speaking in a press conference here yesterday, he said the integrated ‘Ops Mabuk’ conducted at Km 2, Jalan Keningau -Apin-Apin on July 16 was led by DSP Parum A/K Niot, deputy head of Sabah Traffic and Enforcement Division involving 16 officers and personnel.

In another case, Ahmad said police from the Commercial Crime Division here arrested a local woman, 33, and a foreign woman, 30, and also seized 1,296 DVD discs of various titles without Certificate B, RM193 in cash and a sales booklet at a shopping mall in Keningau town on July 16 at about 4pm.

He said the seizure was the largest so far in the district and was investigated under Section 18 (4) of the Film Censorship Act 2002.
