SIBU: Eighteen gamblers were arrested after police raided an illegal cock-fighting pit at a longhouse near Sibu Jaya yesterday.
Seven cockerels, one of which was dead, were also seized from the pit, located about 26 kilometres from here, as evidence.
The 2pm raid was executed as part of the police’s continued tough stand against illegal gambling activities in the district.
The gamblers were later brought to the Central Police Station here for questioning and to have their statements recorded.
