KUCHING: A 43-year-old businessman has lodged a complaint at the Sungai Maong police station and the Consumers Small Claims Tribunal, stating that he felt cheated by a petrol kiosk and its debit card system here.

He made the report on Wednesday afternoon.

According to him, he visited the kiosk on Wednesday morning to buy a motor oil product priced at RM97 using his debit card, but its debit card machine indicated that the card was declined.

He proceeded to the bank that issued the card to check the balance of his account but was surprised to discover that it was RM200 short. This prompted him to report the discrepancy to the bank.

Subsequently, he went back to the petrol kiosk, hoping to have his money refunded.

At the kiosk, he alleged that he was challenged by its manager to lodge a police report instead.

He said he hoped the police would investigate the case and the tribunal would entertain his claim.
