MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) has received a report that a man in his 30s was attacked and bitten by a stray dog on his right leg yesterday evening.

Miri mayor Adam Yii said the incident took place behind a shop in Pujut 7 at around 7.30pm.

“After the incident, a team from the Pujut Resident Committee visited the scene immediately and sent the victim to Miri Hospital on the same night,” he stated when contacted by The Borneo Post today.

Yii said the man was suddenly attacked by the dog without any provocation.

He added that the dog attacked the victim from behind and wouldn’t let him go even after he hit the dog several times with his helmet.

The victim was then quarantined and is under strict medical observation.

Yii hoped that members of the public would not panic and spread unnecessary rumours of the incident without confirmation from reliable sources.
