Two children burnt to death in gas truck crash

SANDAKAN: Two girls aged four and eight were burnt to death when a lorry carrying liquefied gas fell into a 20-feet deep ravine near Mile 10 Kampung Pampang near here, yesterday (Saturday) at around 7pm.

The victims, identified as Marcilla Faizul, 4, and Amanda Faizul, 8, were in the lorry with driver, Asim Bin Taladu, 32, who were injured and a 20-year-old woman Ikin, who suffered from 70 per cent burns to her body.

Fire and Rescue Department spokeperson said that the Sandakan fire station received a call alerting them to the incident at around 7.13pm and reached the scene at 7.38pm with two fire engines and 11 firemen led by Sandakan zone Fire and Rescue Department chief Andrre Andrew.

The operation ended at 9pm after the victims were sent to the hospital for treatment.

The relationship between victims have yet to be ascertained.
