KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said today it has arrested a former special officer of a former Felda chairman to assist in the investigation into the purchase of a hotel in Kuching by Felda Investment Corporation (FIC).

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said the man was detained at 4am at the MACC Putrajaya Office where he had gone to give a statement.

“The man is expected to be remanded at 2.30 pm today at the Putrajaya court,” he said to reporters at the launch of the ‘Friends of MACC’ initiative here.

Last Friday, Dzulkifli ordered an investigation into the purchase of the hotel in Kuching which is believed to have been bought at higher than the market price.

So far, four individuals have been arrested to assist in the investigation into the purchase of the hotel in 2014.

The MACC opened its investigation into the purchase of the hotel after obtaining information from the team that was conducting an investigation into the purchase of a hotel by FIC in London. – Bernama
