KUNAK: A group of students have been arrested for allegedly bullying a girl at a school following the discovery of video footage showing them committing the act on social media.

The clip, which runs for one minute and 39 seconds, believed to be captured using a mobile phone shows at least seven secondary schoolgirls repeatedly slapping, punching and kicking the victim.

Other schoolgirls are also seen mocking the victim, who is eventually thrown to the ground after having her hair pulled.

The clip appeared on a Facebook page on Sunday, and has since generated thousands of comments, almost all condemning the behaviour of the bullying students and calling for police investigation.

It is unclear, however, as to when the incident actually occurred.

District police chief Superintendant Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir, when contacted yesterday, confirmed receiving a report on the incident and that police had already detained ten of the students believed to be involved.

“We have received a police report on the incident.

“The case is being investigated under Section 147 of Penal Code for rioting,” he said, adding that the victim and her alleged bullies are all aged 15.
