Sacred Heart ready for school relocation anniversary, says Hii

SIBU: Sacred Heart Secondary School is ready to mark the 50th anniversary of its relocation from Mission Road to Oya Road on Saturday (Aug 5).

Organising chairman Dr Gregory Hii said all the necessary preparations have been made.

“We hope for fine weather that day. I would like to take this opportunity again to invite as many former students as possible to join us on this important day to remember the 50th anniversary of our school’s move from Mission Road to Oya Road here,” he said after the working committee’s final discussion yesterday.

Hii said there will be a walkathon from Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) premises at Chambers Road to Oya Road – a distance of about 1.5km, while a 3km jogathon will start at Oya Road, Lane 17.

The jogathon is divided into male aged 13, male aged 14, male aged 15, male aged 16 and above, female student, adult male (teachers, parents, alumni), and adult female (teachers, parents, alumni).

Both the walkathon and jogathon will be flagged off at 6.45am.

The opening ceremony of the 50th anniversary Sacred Heart Secondary School Relocation will be held at the school at 8.30am.

Other activities are aerobics, handover of the Mill Hill De La Salle Resource Centre – SHS Class of 88, unveiling of the SHS Heritage Corner, signing of the 50th anniversary relocation plaque, and Brother Albinus Cup Rugby Competition (Aug 5 -6).
