Relief assistance pouring in for Rh Labang fire victims

KUCHING: Relief assistance is pouring in for fire victims of the 35-door Rumah Labang near Sunagi Tulai, Bintangor near Sarikei.

Recently, representatives from A&T Construction Sdn Bhd visited the affected families, currently placed at a temporary shelter near the site of their longhouse.

The donors distributed some basic necessities including rice, food, clothing and kitchen utensils to the victims, who are living in the hut without electricity and water supply.

The group also gave away canvas to provide temporary shelter to the fire victims.

According to A&T Construction’s spokesperson, the villagers have expressed hope that the government would expedite their application for housing assistance.

In the July 26 incident, a total of 183 villagers were left homeless. An elderly woman also perished in the fire.
