KUCHING: The Nirvana Memorial Services Bhd launched a new super hearse yesterday – the Mitsuoka Galue Estate.

The luxury hearse is available for the NV Privilege and NV Platinum packages, both for Christians and Buddhists.

“This luxury super hearse is the first in South East Asia, as part of our continuous, consistent upgrading to better serve our customers. All of our personnel also undergo strict training to give the best service,” said Nirvana Memorial Park managing director Anna Wong.

“With the living standards getting higher, we have the first super hearse in South East Asia to have the most glamorous sending off possible.

“We have been looking for a new hearse over the past years but many are modified ones, which are not safe. There are cases of the hearse catching fire or breaking into two.

“Hence, we cannot simply buy one, and we don’t want a modified one. This new hearse is directly from the manufacturer – the whole planning up to arrival at Kuching took one year.”

Established 18 years ago, Nirvana Kuching is the first in Sabah and Sarawak to introduce professional funeral service package and is the most advanced crematorium in Sarawak.

It is also the first to have environmentally-friendly cremation burial plots and pet cremation compartments in Malaysia, added Wong.

She recalled that in the old days, the local funeral service was not systematic and the

pricing could suddenly fluctuate, leaving families in a shock over the bill.

“We first launched the funeral package in 2000 – we list everything and the prices are stated clearly. There is no extra charge and everything is transparent. We encourage pre-planning and the last parting can be customised according to (customer’s) needs,” said Wong, adding that 80 per cent of customers do pre-planning.

Aside from that, Nirvana is investing over RM10 million for a five-star funeral parlour – touted to be the most prestigious and luxurious in East Malaysia, she said.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth Central publicity secretary Milton Foo represented Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian – also SUPP president – at the ceremony yesterday.

There was also a prize presentation for the ‘Eternal Beauty Forever Love Photo Contest 2017’, which was divided into two themes – ‘Beauty’ and ‘Love’.

The overall grand prize went to Wong Muh Lung, the ‘Best Beauty Photo’ prize went to Lam Hui Chen, while the ‘Best Love Photo’ prize went to John Lai. Seven other contestants took home special prizes.

At the event, Nirvana also presented a donation of RM4,000 to Sarawak Hun Nam Siang T’ng Home for the Aged.
