SIBU: The Ministry of Local Government and Housing has directed all local authorities in the state to put up their crest on signage along roads, drains and other facilities in areas under their jurisdiction.

Assistant Minister Datu Dr Penguang Manggil said the instruction was given during a meeting on July 10.

“This is to enable the public to contact the relevant authority without being pushed around in case of complaints,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

“The move allows the public to direct their complaints, issues and problems to the relevant authorities for solutions,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) deputy chairwoman Rogayah Jamain disclosed that they had installed 25 such new road signage with its crest thus far.

At Sibu Rajang Esplanade at Maju Road here yesterday morning, council workers were seen putting up new road signs with the SMC crest.

Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said the move would make it easier for the people to identify the boundary between SMC and SRDC.
