KOTA SAMARAHAN: The second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operations to locate Lembong Pin, 75, who has been missing since Wednesday, turned out empty.

According to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the SAR area has been divided into three sections – MMEA, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and Civil Defence Force (APM).

Yesterday, members of the MMEA were tasked to conduct search out at sea using their KM Semilang and Penggalang 22 boats from Tanjung Moyang to Tanjung Stok, while Bomba and APM personnel were assigned to search the areas along the coastline.

Lembong, from Kampung Serpan in Asajaya, was reported missing on Thursday after villagers at Pasir Ambal found his boat unattended – this triggered fears that he might have fallen off his boat and swept away by the waves.

Several villagers also claimed that Lembong was last seen around 1am on Wednesday at the same location where his boat was found.

The SAR operation commenced at 2pm on Thursday and was called off around 6pm. Yesterday, the search commenced at 7am and also ended at dusk.
