KUCHING: A delegation from Danang Department of Tourism, Vietnam visited Kuching from Aug 15 to 19 to learn about ecotourism, management of national parks in Sarawak, and conservation in the region.
Danang Tourism deputy director Truong Thi Hong Hanh was accompanied by Planning and Development Division deputy manager Phan Minh Hai and Son Tra Peninsula management board deputy director Nguyen Duc Vu during the visit.
Danang Tourism is planning to set up something similar to Bako National Park so they visited the park to learn about its preservation and maintenance.
They were particularly impressed with the use of wood for the staircase instead of cement, and how the park is providing job opportunities to locals.
The group also visited Semenggoh Wildlife Centre after being briefed by Sarawak Forestry Corporation.
According to Truong, they plan on making another visit to Sarawak in the near future.
