BAU: The majority of crime cases reported in Bau District this year involved motorcycle theft.
Bau police chief DSP Mohd Sabri Zainol said 18 out of the 35 crimes reported in the district to date involved motorcycle theft.
“Motorcycle theft remains the top of the total crimes committed in the district and we are now focussing our attention to help reduce the cases,” he said during a crime prevention campaign launched by Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh at Siniawan police station yesterday.
Sabri said 26 motorcycles were reported missing last year, while the total crimes reported in the district stood at 54. He advised motorcycle owners to use extra locks to secure their machines.
“The responsibility to prevent and stop crimes is the responsibility of the community because the police cannot be everywhere,” he said.
He also urged the public to call the Bau or Siniawan police stations should they come across suspicious characters in the area.
