One dies as two teens fall from eighth floor at Api Api Center

KOTA KINABALU: A teenager fell to his death while his friend who fell with him from the eighth floor at Api Api Center here on Friday evening was in critical but stable condition.

The 15-year-old boy from Kampung Penampang Baru in Inanam and his friend, aged 16, landed on a second floor corridor. The friend was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH II).

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said police believed both victims had fallen from the roof on the eight floor and landed on the second floor corridor around 9.50pm.

“Initial police investigation showed the duo were sniffing glue on the top floor roof when they fell.

“Police also found two plastic bags each containing a can of glue at the scene,” he said yesterday.

Police found no criminal elements at the scene and has classified the case as sudden death.

In view of the incident, Chandra reminded parents to monitor their children’s activities to avoid unwanted incidents from happening.
