MARUDI: The Baram Team welcomes all top government officials, be they in federal or state departments and ministries, to visit Baram so that they can see and understand issues raised by the people’s representatives in the Parliament and State Legislative Assembly.

The Baram Team comprises Baram MP Anyie Ngau, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau, Marudi assemblyman Datu Dr Penguang Manggil and Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala.

“By really going down to the ground to see and experience the situation and feel how the rakyat feel, it will give decision makers good footing to make fast and quicker decision to any requests brought up by their people’s representative,” said Dennis when accompanying Registrar of Societies (ROS) director-general Datuk Mohammad  Razin Abdullah on his visit to Rh Enjop Sungai Babi near here recently.

Rh Enjop Sg Babi is one of the 28 longhouses situated in the Poyut-Nibong area.

Elaborating, Dennis said Baram was considered  Sarawak’s last frontier in terms of development due to the many great challenges faced by the authorities to bring development, needing strategic and systematic planning and long-term development agendas for all settlements in the huge and sparsely populated area to be developed.

“Without understanding the true situation, this makes public amenities such as roads, electricity, water, telecommunication, etc look costly and seem beyond logic. That is why the visit by top officials is much appreciated,” Dennis explained.

Meanwhile, during the brief visit to Sg Babi, Dennis announced his MRP allocation of RM5,000 to the Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Sg Babi branch.

Others in the entourage were Sarawak ROS director Georgina Aphhia Ngau and Telang Usan Jasa officer Juman Nyuwa.
