I am still partyless — Bosi

KOTA KINABALU: Kapayan assemblyman Dr Edwin Bosi has not joined Parti Anak Negeri.

Bosi, when asked to comment about a picture of him with Parti Anak Negeri members, said that he was at the gathering to listen to party president Datuk Henrynus Amin’s briefing.

“I am still partyless. I will make (my) decision in November,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Bosi was the third DAP elected representative to leave the party since the last election, after Dr Hiew King Cheu (Luyang) and Junz Wong (Likas).

With Bosi’s resignation, DAP Sabah is now left with two parliament and one state seats, namely, Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu and Sri Tanjung.

Bosi, who was DAP Sabah deputy chairman, has said that he is seeking a new platform through which he will champion the rights of the people in the state.

“After consulting with leaders of DAP Penampang branch, I have decided to tender my resignation as a member of DAP and also as deputy chairman of DAP Sabah as of 31st August 2017.

“I have submitted my resignation letter to DAP Sabah secretary on 24th August 2017,” he said, adding that his reason for leaving the party was his differences with state chairman Stephen Wong.

“It is only fair, as reconciliation is not possible, that I have to withdraw to allow the harmony within DAP Sabah to persist. The failed ‘Shanghai handshake’ is the cornerstone of my decision to leave,” he said.

“I bear no grudges against DAP and the national leaders. Here, I like to thank DAP for giving me the opportunity to become a State Assemblyman.

“I shall always remember and treasure the great comradeship. Deep in my heart I know that our political struggle will always run parallel,” he was quoted as saying.
