40 percent Kotabaru roads in heavy damage

KOTABARU, South Kalimantan: About 561 kilometers or 40 percent of the 1,370 kilometer roads in Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan, were severely damaged, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“Most of the damaged roads are in the electoral districts (Dapil) one, which includes the Sub-district of West Pamukan, North Pamukan, South Pamukan, Sungai Durian and Sampanahan,” said Chairman of Commission III of DPRD Kotabaru Denny Hendro Kurnianto here, Monday.

From the total roads, he continued, 297 kilometers or about 21 percent roads in good condition, in moderate conditions about 13 percent (190 kilometers). While the roads in lightly damaged condition to the length of 325 km or about 23 percent.

According to Denny, the broken roads in Dapil one most are the provincial road. In detail the existence of provincial roads that need attention is the Simpang Banian-Sungai Durian about 29.18 Km.

Furthermore, Megalau-Sampanahan road segment along the 18.20 km, Halong-Megalau 80 km, and the other part is in Cetral Pulau Laut, namely Tanjung Serdang-Lontar road.

“We are very hopeful to the local government, both provincial and district, to really pay attention to the development in particular road infrastructure,” he explained.
