KUCHING: Dayak Cultural Foundation (DCF) is extending full financial support to two needy sisters Patraylyn and Patrayena in their quest for tertiary education.

They are from Rumah Garai, Sungai Minus in Sarikei.

Their father Jemat Maling passed away on Sept 29, 1999 leaving their mother to provide for her children’s needs.

Their mother Jelawat Chugat does not have regular income from doing odd jobs and planting paddy.

They registered with Politeknik Kuching at Matang on June 4 this year.

Both are taking a three-year diploma course in mechanical engineering.

According to DCF, their plight came  to light when the management of Politeknik Kuching helped them to write to the foundation for financial assistance.

Its chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, and members of DCF Board of Trustees agreed for the foundation to give them full-fledged financial support including tuition and accommodation fees and their living expenses during the three-year diploma course at the polytechnic.
