BANJAR, South Kalimantan: Simpang Empat Sector Police personnel have arrested a recidivist who tried to rape a housewife and could face up to 12 years in jail, Antaranews reported.
“The perpetrator is a murder recidivist and his act has violated article 53 jo article 285 of the Criminal Code on attempted rape,” said Chief of the Banjar Police Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Takdir Mattanete in Martapura, Sunday.
According to the police chief, who was accompanied by Simpang Empat Sector Police Chief Adj Comr (AKP) Wahyu Ismoyo, the arrest of TR (33) was made on the report of the victim’s husband, who did not accept his wife was treated indecently.
Wahyu said the attempted rape occurred on Friday (29/9) at about22:00 pm in the Village 7 Keramat Mina, Simpang Empat.
“When the incident occurred, the victim DH (37) slept alone, because the husband was not at home, then entered the perpetrator and tried to do indecent,” said police chief.
Wahyu, who was accompanied by Head of Crime Detective Unit Chief Brig (Bripka) Gerek said the victim managed to escape and run out of the house while asking for help to the neighbors.
“The victim tried to fight and bit the perpetrator’s hand and ran out of the house later met a resident who helped him,” added Gerek.
After the incident, the victim accompanied by her husband reported the indecent acts committed by the perpetrator and the officer immediately moved to arrest him without a fight.
“The perpetrator was arrested and his actions violated article 53 jo article 285 of the Criminal Code on attempted rape with the punishment of a maximum of 12 years in prison,” said the police chief.
