MIRI: Johor’s capital is undergoing a rapid transformation into a modern metropolis with many on-going developments that will raise the standard of living within the city.

One of the most talked about project is the upcoming Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS), which is touted to be the most advanced transport system in Malaysia.

Adding another feather to its cap, Johor Bahru can now claim to host the tallest residential towers in Southeast Asia with the completion of The Astaka, a premier project by Astaka Holdings Limited.

The building structure of the twin towers of The Astaka – positioned at 1,020 feet (310.8 meters) above sea level – was completed in June this year.

Located in One Bukit Senyum, The Astaka, which means ‘the royal pavilion’, will transform Johor Bahru’s skyline upon its completion next year.

The towers will also rank as one of the top-10 tallest buildings in Malaysia and will be Johor’s tallest building.

At the topping-off ceremony to mark this achievement, Johor Menteri Besar Dato Mohamed Khaled Nordin said: “The two towers will be a key feature in Johor Bahru’s transformation into a bustling metropolis and give the people of Johor something to be proud of.”

The Astaka is designed to be a standing ovation to luxury and for residents who have a penchant for the finer things in life.

It has received numerous accolades and was recognised as the Best Condo Development (Malaysia) at the 2015 Southeast Asia Property Awards, as well as the Best Luxury High Rise Development at the 2015 People’s Choice Awards by iProperty.com.

The taller of the two towers rises up to 70 floors and the other, 65 floors.

The Astaka will also boast Malaysia’s highest sky garden standing at 915 feet above sea level.

Its 438 residential units will have vistas that will overlook the Straits of Johor, Singapore’s skyline and Johor Bahru city.

Units for The Astaka range between 2,204 and 5,554 square feet in size. Residents can take one of the two private lifts to arrive at their own homes, which are fitted with high-end appliances, enclosed balcony, walk-in wardrobes, high ceilings of 3.6 metres, marble floors and ducted air-conditioner systems in the living, dining and master bedrooms.

The Astaka also boasts a wine bar, cigar bar, sky-garden, infinity pool, gymnasium and an aerobics studio. It is freehold in tenure and targets high net-worth consumers who value exclusivity in premium locations.

Residents of The Astaka will be at the centre of Johor Bahru’s new commercial and administrative center, a new township located only one kilometer away from the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex.

Up to 70per cent of its units have been sold since it was first launched in 2013.

The Astaka is developed by Astaka Holdings Limited, an integrated property developer based in the Iskandar region of Johor who will be hosting a roadshow at Pullman Kuching, Sarawak.
