BAU: Principals and headmasters of schools in Tasik Biru area are urged to monitor the recipients of school uniform vouchers distributed by Yayasan Sarawak.

In making the call, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said this was necessary to ensure that the vouchers are not abused by the parents to buy other items.

“The vouchers given by Yayasan Sarawak are meant to buy school uniform for children like shoes and school bags and I don’t want the vouchers be spent for other items…

“So I hope that the school principals and headmasters monitor the recipients,” Henry said yesterday.

He was officiating at the presentation of school uniform vouchers from Yayasan Sarawak to 372 school children from Tasik Biru, at his service centre, here.

The vouchers worth RM200 each, an increase of RM100 from the previous years, are valid until Nov 30 this year.

A total of 600 school children from 25 schools – two secondary and 23 primary schools in Tasik Biru constituency – are eligible to receive the vouchers under the e-Kasih data obtained from Bau district office.

Henry said he is strict about education of the school children in the constituency and hoped that parents play a more prominent role towards education of their children for a better future.

To those receiving the vouchers, he strongly and advised parents to spend the vouchers solely for buying the school items.

He pointed out that parents who abused the vouchers are depriving their children of a better future, stressing that Yayasan Sarawak has a noble objective to help the poor students in the constituency.

He thanked Yayasan  Sarawak for the assistance  and hoped that such assistance would motivate the school children to perform better in their academic and eventually move out from the poverty circle.

Present were an officer from Yayasan Sarawak Haznetta Sarenau Howell, who represented the director Datu Azmi Bujang and school principals and headmasters.
