MACC detains three in rural project graft probe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) detained three individuals including a former assistant secretary of a division in a ministry for investigations into the alleged embezzlement of funds in a ministry in Sabah.

According to sources, the 40-year-old former assistant secretary was detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 8.15pm Thursday night.

“Also detained was the owner of a construction company, aged 52, at the MACC office in Sabah at 8.45pm on same night,” the source told Bernama.

The MACC had earlier detained a 46- year-old director and owner of a company at 6.40pm at the Sabah MACC office.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad had on Thursday announced that another RM29 million (in the bank account) had been frozen.

The MACC had frozen RM150 million in the bank account following investigations into the case, which was being investigated by MACC officers at 15 locations in Sabah.  — Bernama
