MIRI: Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting took time off recently to pay a visit to young cancer patient Mohd Madza Shahiran at Miri Hospital.

This was disclosed by Wisma Miri Sports and Recreation Club (Wisma) president Abdul Wahab, who said the plight of Mohd Madza, who suffers from Stage 4 cancer, has caught the attention of local leaders and members of the public.

“Datuk (Ting) had taken the time to visit Mohd Madza as well as presented the family with donation to relieve their burden,” he said on Sunday.

According to Abdul Wahab, Mohd Madza is a son to one of Wisma’s football players and his plight went viral on social media several days ago.

The 14-year-old boy is a student of SMK Merbau and is currently receiving treatment at Miri Hospital.

Wisma members had also come together to raise money to help ease the family’s burden.

Mohd Madza’s story went viral after SMK Merbau parent-teacher association president Jairy Sahara posted a message online calling for the public to pray for the student’s recovery.

Jairy had mentioned that the cancer had spread to the Form 2 boy’s liver, and had appealed for prayers while Mohd Madza undergoes treatment at Miri Hospital.
