KUCHING: Aqurate Ingredients (M) Sdn Bhd and Cat City Holidays Sdn Bhd have successfully conducted a conference called International Meeting of Probiotics and Personalized Medicine 2017 (IMPPM 2017) from Oct 7 – 8.

According to a press release from the organisers, the event held at Pullman Hotel attracted 227 reputable medical professionals, pharmacists, researchers, academicians, industrial professionals and the public, from over 10 countries.

The inaugural event aimed to promote knowledge about the role of probiotics in regulating gut well-being.

In the past decades, increasing evidence illustrated new benefits for skin health, improvement of memory and brain health, and immunity.

The highlight of the event was the first-hand information from probiotic experts and the opportunity for the audience to have dialogue and discussion. The event was supported by Sarawak Convention Bureau, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau and the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society.

Among those who spoke were the event chairperson Prof Dr Liong Min Tze from Universiti Sains Malaysia, founder of Aqurate Ingredients Intl (M) Sdn Bhd Steven Ong, general manager of Morinaga Milk Industry Co, Japan Dr Xiao Jin-Zhong, founder of Probionic Corporation South Korea Prof Dr Park Yong-Ha, and founder of Beijing Sci-Top Biotech Co Prof Dr Zhang Heping.

Unlike any typical conference, IMPPM 2017 uniquely conducted corporate social responsibility activities, in reaching out to underprivileged children and elderly in homes here last week.

YSP Industries Sdn Bhd, Probionic Corporation, Beijing Sci-Top Biotech Co and Yakult (M) Sdn Bhd sponsored their respective probiotics products to these communities and met them personally.

Thus IMPPM 2017 organisers are also happy to announce that through the conference they have ‘walked the talk’ of benefiting the society via national and international efforts in healthcare, research and education.
